BSCTrace — the closest BscScan replacement

If you want the BscScan experience without BscScan, start here. BSCTrace is built by NodeReal on top of its MegaNode infrastructure, and it covers every page you use daily: transaction details with decoded token transfers, address pages with BEP-20, BEP-721 and BEP-1155 tabs, internal transactions, verified source code with Read and Write tabs, and a contract verification form. Its validator dashboard, showing voting power and block rewards per validator, is better than BscScan’s. Search also resolves SPACE ID .bnb names.

The killer feature for developers is the API. The MegaNode free plan gives you 10 million compute units per month, 150 compute units per second and three keys, and enhanced methods such as nr_getAssetTransfers replace BscScan’s txlist. Where it falls short is labelling: BscScan still knows who owns far more addresses. Full details in our BSCTrace review.

OKX Explorer (OKLink) — the multichain BSC explorer

OKLink was for years one of the big independent multichain explorers; its data now powers the explorer on OKX’s Web3 site at web3.okx.com/explorer/bsc. Paste an address and you can flip between BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum and many other networks without retyping it. Token pages show holder distribution, and address pages give a readable profile of activity. For BSC-specific depth — validator elections, contract verification — it is thinner than BscScan or BSCTrace, and some advanced features ask you to sign in. If you mostly track portfolios across chains, though, the convenience is hard to beat. People searching for an “OKLink BSC” explorer end up here.

Blockchair — the BNB Smart Chain explorer for analysts

Blockchair started with Bitcoin and grew into a multichain research tool, and its BNB section (blockchair.com/bnb) inherits the same power-user interface. The difference shows the moment you open a list: you can filter transactions or blocks by almost any field, sort, and export the result. That turns questions like “all transfers above a certain value in a date range” into a few clicks rather than a script. Blockchair also makes privacy a selling point and says it does not track users. Downsides: contract tooling is minimal, and the free API quota for anonymous users runs out quickly — fine for occasional queries, not for an app.

Binplorer — token balances and portfolio value

Binplorer comes from the team behind Ethplorer, and like its Ethereum sibling it thinks in tokens rather than blocks. Open a wallet and you see every BEP-20 token it holds, the dollar value of each and the total, plus charts of balance history. Token pages show holders, transfers and price. It is our favourite tool for “what is this wallet actually worth right now?”.

Binplorer also has one of the few genuinely free BNB Chain data APIs: requests with apiKey=freekey work for methods such as getAddressInfo, getTokenInfo, getTxInfo and getAddressHistory, documented in the Ethplorer API wiki. Our own BNB transaction explorer uses it for token holdings. What Binplorer is not: a full block explorer. There is no contract Read/Write, no verification and only basic transaction detail. Pair it with our BEP-20 token explorer to be sure you are looking at the genuine contract of USDT, USDC or BTCB.

3xpl — fast, ad-free BNB lookups

3xpl (say “three-x-p-l”) is a universal explorer built for speed. Its BNB pages at 3xpl.com/bnb load quickly, show no ads and present every address as a clean ledger of balance changes — incoming and outgoing, native BNB and tokens — which is often easier to read than a list of transactions. Every object also has a raw JSON view, handy for developers who want to see exactly what an indexer returns. You will not find contract verification or deep labels, and its API is a sandbox for testing with paid plans above. As a second opinion on a phone with a weak connection, though, it is excellent.

Specialist tools that beat any explorer at one job

Some questions are not explorer questions at all. These tools read BNB Smart Chain too, but each is built for one specific job — and does it better than BscScan ever will.

Phalcon by BlockSec — why did my transaction fail? Paste a BSC transaction hash into Phalcon and you get a full call trace: every internal call, token movement and balance change, step by step, with the exact line where it reverted. It is the tool security researchers use to dissect exploits, and it can simulate a transaction before you send it. When BscScan says “Fail” with no explanation, Phalcon tells you why.

Tenderly — debugging and simulation for developers. Tenderly supports BNB Chain for transaction tracing, gas profiling and simulations against a fork of the live state. If you are shipping contracts, it pairs well with our testnet workflow.

Arkham — who is behind this address? Arkham’s entity labels group thousands of addresses under the exchange, fund or person that controls them, and draw the money flows between them. Its labels sometimes go further than BscScan’s name tags, which makes it a strong companion for our wallet tracking guide. Treat labels as informed attribution, not proof.

DeBank — portfolio view. DeBank shows a wallet’s tokens, DeFi positions (liquidity, lending, staking) and NFTs across BNB Chain and many EVM networks. Explorers show raw balances; DeBank shows what those balances are doing.

DEX Screener — pairs and prices. For any token traded on PancakeSwap or other BSC DEXs, DEX Screener shows live charts, liquidity, trades and pair age. A brand-new pair with thin liquidity is a warning sign you will not see on a token’s explorer page.

Dune — SQL analytics. Dune exposes decoded BNB Chain data to SQL queries and dashboards. When you need aggregates — daily active wallets of a protocol, volume by pool — Dune beats clicking through explorer pages.

Revoke.cash — token approvals. Lists every spending approval your wallet has given on BNB Chain and lets you revoke them. It does the same job as BscScan’s Token Approval Checker and is a good habit after every new dApp. Our BSC token checker guide explains why stale approvals are dangerous.

What about Routescan and Blockscout?

Two names come up whenever developers look for an open or Etherscan-compatible alternative, and neither currently gives you a public BNB Smart Chain explorer.

Routescan runs explorers and an Etherscan-style API for a range of EVM chains. In our September 2026 test, its public API answered "message": "chain not supported" for chain ID 56, and its block endpoint returned no blockchain for the BSC parameters. So a “Routescan BNB Smart Chain explorer API” is not something you can build on today; if that changes, we will update this page.

Blockscout is the leading open-source explorer, used by many EVM networks, with a REST API v2, an Etherscan-compatible RPC API and a JSON-RPC proxy for calls like eth_call. There is no public Blockscout instance for BSC mainnet, but you can self-host one against your own BSC archive node — see Blockscout’s documentation and our dedicated Blockscout on BNB Smart Chain page for what that involves.

When BscScan is down: a 60-second plan

First, relax: an explorer outage is not a chain outage. Your funds are exactly where they were. Then work through this list.

1. Check what you actually need. For “did my payment arrive?”, paste the hash into our free BSC transaction lookup. It reads BNB Chain’s public nodes with automatic failover and keeps working when third-party explorers are offline.
2. Need full explorer pages? Open BSCTrace. Same data, the familiar transaction, address and token pages, and verified contracts with Read and Write tabs.
3. Tracking a wallet on several chains? Use OKX Explorer or Blockchair.
4. Your bot relies on the BscScan API? Move reads to public RPC (balances, receipts, eth_call) and history to MegaNode or Binplorer. Our explorer API guide has the endpoints.
5. Wallet links still point to BscScan? In MetaMask you can change the network’s block explorer URL; our MetaMask setup guide shows where.

How to choose the right BNB Chain block explorer

Match the tool to the question. Who is this address? BscScan first, Arkham second. Why did it fail? Phalcon or Tenderly. What is this wallet worth? Binplorer or DeBank. Same wallet on five chains? OKX Explorer or Blockchair. Free data for my app? BSCTrace/MegaNode, Binplorer’s freekey or public RPC. Quick answer, no noise? 3xpl or our own lookup. And if you only want one backup bookmark, make it BSCTrace — it is the only alternative that covers nearly everything BscScan does for BNB Smart Chain, including verified contracts.
